Work at the institute

The objective of the institute is to develop and implement innovative approaches to psychiatric healthcare. Such initiatives should adhere to the tenets of social and medical inclusion, as well as integrated and inclusive medical care. The development of age- and development-specific, preventative services tailored to the needs of those affected is a primary objective. A particular focus is placed on the most vulnerable population groups.

The Institute is situated at the 2nd Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapeutic Medicine with Social Psychiatry for People with Disabilities at Hietzing Hospital. The department offers a comprehensive range of psychiatric care, encompassing a diverse array of services. In addition to two acute wards for adults, the department includes Vienna's inaugural supra-regional psychiatric transition ward (15-25 years of age) and Austria's sole social psychiatric ward for individuals with multiple disabilities.
