Work at the Institute

The core activities of our Institute are firstly the investigation and implementation of new ophthalmological conservative and surgical treatment methods, specifically in the field of cataract surgery, and secondly the attention paid to the optimisation and advancement of the training and further training of young doctors, and the communication of the basic knowledge needed for scientific work in the field of ophthalmology.

Current research programmes
  • Microperimetry in various types of cataract (since 06/2021)
  • Pre-operative cataract stage subject to the local connection of patients to a centre for cataract surgery (since 12/2021)
  • The subjective stress on patients from intravitreal surgical drug administration at an ophtamological ward (since 12/2021)
  • Changes of macular sensitivity after focal laser coagulation diabetic retina aneurysms (since 11/2021)
  • Comparison of different intraocular lenses
